PowerSchool Portal Instructions

Introduction to the PowerSchool Portal

Use the PowerSchool Portal to select your courses for the 2026–2027 school year. Just choose your grade band above, then follow the step-by-step instructions to log in and submit your selections.

Important for All Grades
The PowerSchool (PS) Portal works best on a laptop or desktop computer.
A short instructional video is available at the top of each section.
If you have more than one child enrolled at MIPS, you will see a separate tab for each student at the top left of the portal.

Grades K–5 Course Selection

Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal

After logging in, you will land on the portal homepage. Select “Class Registration” from the left-hand menu.

Review Instructions

You will see green text at the top of the page. Please read it carefully before beginning.

Understanding the Icons

Red exclamation mark (!) – Required category; you must select at least one class.
Green check mark (✓) – Optional category; you may leave it blank.

CORE Classes

The first category lists English, Math, Science, and Social Studies. You do not need to make selections here—CORE classes are automatically scheduled.

Selecting Electives

Read the black instructional text under each category.
Click the pencil icon next to “Recommended Elective Choice 1.”
Review the list of available classes (listed alphabetically).
Check the box next to your chosen class and click “Okay.”
Some categories may have multiple pages—use “Next” to view all options.

Submit Your Selections

Once all required categories show a green check mark, scroll to the bottom right and click “Submit.”

You may revise your selections anytime until June 19, 2026 by repeating the steps above.

Locate your graduation worksheet to determine which courses you need for next year. If you cannot find it, contact your counselor.

Begin with “Semester 1 English.”
Read the black instructional text under each category.
Click the pencil icon to open course options.
Select the appropriate class based on your learning platform.
Students in NCAA, TPH, or Adult Learning must read course descriptions carefully.
Courses are listed alphabetically.
Some categories may have multiple pages—use “Next” to view all options.
Click “Okay” after making your selection.
